About Us

Umeewarra Aboriginal Media: Keeping Culture Strong Since 1987

South Australia’s only Aboriginal radio station, broadcasting from Port Augusta on 89.1 FM to celebrate and strengthen Aboriginal culture, language, and community voices across the region.

What We Do:

  • Community Radio: Sharing music, stories, and issues important to Aboriginal people in today’s society.

  • Cultural Promotion: Showcasing over 40 language groups and supporting true reconciliation through storytelling.

  • Training & Volunteering: Offering opportunities for Aboriginal community members of all ages to get involved in broadcasting.

Led by a dedicated Aboriginal Board of Management and a passionate team including:
